Kothagudem: One person was severely injured while all houses in the Labour Colony of the Bhadrachalam Power Station (BTPS), built by the Bridge and Roof Company, collapsed in Pinapaka due to gales and heavy rain on Tuesday evening.

The injured, identified as Illandula Lalaiah, a watchman of the Labour Colony, was rushed to the government hospital at Khammam for treatment. BHEL divisional engineer Balaji visited the Colony and reviewed the situation.

Under the impact of gales, tin roofs of many houses were blown off up to a distance of one kilometre. The rain that lasted for half an hour sent shivers down the spines of people living in Dammakkapeta, Chikkudugunta, Sitarampuram and Sambaigudem in the BTPS region.

Several trees and electric poles were uprooted and fell across the roads near Dammakkapeta.
