Bhupalpalli: District Collector Dr A Murali told the Registered Medical Practitioners (RMP) to confine their practice to primary health centres in general medicine only.

He held a meeting with the RMPs practising in the town here on Wednesday. He noted that the medical practitioners had been providing medical care to the patients by going beyond their expertise and qualifications.

Offering medical care with haphazard skill and knowledge, administering injection overdose to ensure speedy relief, not suggesting proper diagnostic tests before treating the patients by the RMPs has been putting the lives of patients in danger, he pointed out.

Hence the RMPs should follow the guidelines stipulated for them and cooperate with the government by restricting their practice to primary health centre, the collector advised.

He further stated that some of the RMPs were conducting pre natal sex-determination tests and informing the parents about the gender of the foetus, which was against the law.

Serious action would be initiated against such practitioners, Murali warned. He appealed the public to visit government hospitals where the facilities have been improved now.

District Medical and Health Officer Dr Appaiah, additional DMHO Dr Madhusudhan, Mulug government hospital superintendent Dr Venu Gopal and others were present.
