​Karimnagar: Action would be taken as per law against the persons, who violate rules and smoke in public places, warned District Medical and Health Officer Dr K Sudheer. The DM&HO released four kinds of posters on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, here at DM&HO office on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sudheer said that on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, several awareness programmes were organised to create awareness among the people on the ill effects of smoking along with preventing smoking in public places.

Receiving the orders from Family and Health Welfare Department of Hyderabad, special wing of cultural artistes were employed to create awareness among people at various locations such as Geetha Bhavan, Zilla Parishad Office, RTC Bus stand, Clock Tower, Labour Adda, vegetable market and fruit market in the city and in Huzurabad, Jammikunta, Choppadandi and Gangadhar mandals across the district, he informed.

By forming committees with district officials, necessary steps will be taken to prevent smoking in public places along with taking necessary actions on the persons, who violate the rule, he informed.

Deputy DM&HO Dr G Ravinder, District Immunisation Officer Dr Juveria, DTCO Dr A Rajesham, Dr K V Pavan Kumar Reddy, RBSK coordinator P Durga Rao, A Pushpa, Ravinder, R Jagadishwar and Superintendent Sudhakara Chary were also present along with others.
