Khammam: The All India Democratic Women Association demanded the government to sanction25 per cent of interest for Self Help Groups present in the state along with Abhaya Hastam pensions.

The representatives of AIDWA of Khammam and Mahabubabad districts organised a meeting under the leadership of the district secretary Buggaveeti Sarala at Manchikanti Bhavan in Khammam on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, state president of AIDWA K N Asha Latha said out of 8 lakh single women present in the State, the government has decided to extend pensions to only 1.08 lakh which was not fair.

She further added that after the formation of separate statehood the harassment on women increased and also the honour killings.

Stating that many poor pregnant women were facing problems by not getting required treatment in time in government hospitals, she demanded better medical facilities at all government hospitals.

State committee members of AIDWA and others attened the meeting.
