Mancherial: Peddapalli MP Balka Suman directed the officials concerned to ensure that Ralla Vagu river (about 11 km away from the town) is protected.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, he along with Rallavagu MLA Nadipalli Divakar Rao, Bellampalli MLA Durgam Chinnaiah, District Collector R V Karnan, Commissioner of Police Vikram Jeet Duggal and Deputy Commissioner of Police John Wesley cleaned Rallavagu. They removed weeds and cleared other scrap and garbage.

Speaking on the occasion, the MP said steps were being taken by the government to construct four check dams on the river. “By storing water, scarcity of both drinking and irrigation water for cultivation can be solved.

These kinds of initiatives are being taken to provide basic amenities to people along with protecting natural resources,” he added.

Municipal Chairperson Mamidisetti Vasundara, Municipal Commissioner Srikanth, in-charge Joint-Collector Veerabramaiah, RDO Pratap Rao, DFO Prabhakar, various other government officials, prominent persons of the town and many voluntary organisations also took part in the cleaning programme.
