Collector Amrapali Kata directs officials to make arrangements for the three-day event

Hanamkonda: District Collector Amrapali Kata has directed the officials to make arrangements for conducting the three-day ‘Orugallu Kala Vaibhavam’ on June 16, 17 and 18.

Following a decision by the State Tourism department to conduct the event on the above dates, the Collector held a review meeting with tourism and information and public relations officials at the Collectorate here on Tuesday.

The Collector told the officials to ensure elaborate arrangements for organising a carnival on the above three days. Events like workshops and seminars on Kakatiya history, literature, music and dance would be organised as part of the festival.

Competitions in short films, dance, music and comedy skits would be conducted to promote the skills of budding artists. Those interested could send their entries to [email protected] or www.facebook.com/warangalartproject.

The event was scheduled to be held two months ago but it got postponed due to several reasons. Soon a decision on the place and date of the events to be held in Warangal and Hanamkonda would be decided, Amrapali said. Local, State and national-level artists would be invited to present cultural programmes, she added.

For details, contact District Tourism Officer M Shivaji at his mobile number: 9440816077 and District Public Relations Officer DS Jagan at: 9949351574, Collector Amrapali informed. Joint Collector S Dayanand and others were present at the review meeting.

It might be noted that Orugallu Kala Vaibhavam has taken shape as a minor version of ‘Kakatiya Festival’. In view of the demands from the opposition parties and intellectuals to conduct Kakatiya Festival the state government proposed to organise Orugallu Kala Vaibhavam.

The celebrations were limited within Warangal Urban district unlike entire state as it was done in the case of Kakatiya Festival. Initially, TSTDC Chairman P Ramulu suggested organising Kala Vaibhavam in this March, however, for reasons unknown, it got postponed several times during the past two months
