Nalgonda: Director of Excise and Prohibition (enforcement) Akun Sabharwal stated that government’s stringent measures completely contained the production and sale of Gudamba in the state.

Addressing the gathering at a programme organised to rehabilitate persons involved in Gudumba production in Nalgonda on Wednesday, Sabharwal explained how Gudumba affects families and urged the beneficiaries to ensure that ID liquor production does not occur in the district.

He appreciated the efforts of police, revenue and Excise department staff in making the Nalgonda a Gudumba-free district.

Sabharwal further stated that government took all possible measures to control Gudumba production and sale, and launched a rehabilitation scheme to families involved in its production. Under the scheme, financial aid of Rs 2 lakh would be given to every beneficiary. He advised the beneficiaries to utilise the scheme and lead a good life.

As part of the programme, officials distributed financial aid administrative sanction letters to few beneficiaries of total 226 members. Some of the women beneficiaries shared their experiences before and after the leaving production and sale of Gudumba.

District Collector Gaurav Uppal, SP Prakash Reddy, Excise officials Jeevan, Datturaj Goud, SC, ST, BC welfare officers and beneficiaries participated.

Later, Akun Sabharwal planted saplings of Indian palm trees at B Vellemla village and examined the nursery at Cheruvugattu of Narketpally mandal.
