Kazipet: The activists of Telangana Vidyarthi Sena (TVS) staged a day-long deeksha requesting the State government to sanction a degree college at Kazipet.

After launching the deeksha, district Congress committee president N Rajender Reddy demanded the government look into the genuine demand of the TVV and the locals residing at Kazipet.

Though there were many private, government and aided degree colleges in Warangal and Hanamkonda, there is not a single degree college in Kazipet. As a result hundreds of students were compelled to go to other places, he said.

Stating that there is an urgent need to establish government institutions at Kazipet, where majority of the people are from poor background, Rajender Reddy said Congress would extend its support to the demand of the TVV and fight for the cause.

BC-JAC state chairman Tirunahari Sheshu said several government institutions that were functioning at Kazipet were closed before the formation of separate State. Even three years after the formation of Telangana State, no new institution was set up here.

He complained that the government was trying to build a toilets complex on the land allocated for the construction of a library. He questioned the rationale of the government decision and demanded to withdraw it.

People’s JAC chairman P Sudhakar addressing the gathering alleged that the government was neglecting the development of Kazipet and was neglecting the demands to set up Maternity Hospital, a public library, bus stand and others.

TVV state in-charge D Sathish, state president Kalluri Pavan, state secretary Ch Anil, state vice president T Purnender, district president B Ranjith, leaders B Sandeep, Vinay Chary and Vidyarthi Satta state general secretary Thota Pavan were among those, who sat on deeksha on the day.

City Congress president K Srinivas Rao, municipal councillors J Rama, TPCC secretary B Srinivas Rao, city Congress vice president Sunchu Chandraiah, SC cell chairman P Vijay and others were present.
