Jayashanker-Bhupalpalli: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari has directed the officials to ensure supply of drinking water under Mission Bhagiratha to households in Manthani, Mulug and Bhupalpalli Assembly segments by the end of December.

Speaking at a district development review meeting at Bhupalpalli on Friday, Kadiyam directed officials to expedite the works to provide tap connections to households by September 30 in Manthani and Bhupalpalli constituencies. Similarly, households in Mulug constituency should be given water connection by December 31.

The Deputy CM opined that district has a huge potential to top the state in terms of development as it has got vast natural resources, industries and tourist sites. Both long-term and short-term plans should be chalked out and officials have to work with dedication for the purpose.

He asked the district collector, irrigation and revenue officials to focus on Mission Kakatiya works, while expressing displeasure over slow of pace of works in second and third phases of the programme.

Block plantation has to be taken up wherever forest cover dwindled, besides releasing seed balls. In addition to that, strict measures to prevent encroachment of forest, revenue lands and tanks by growing plantation on the lands, he suggested.

The construction of double bed room houses should be expedited and houses whose construction completed should be handed over to the beneficiaries within next 10 days, Kadiyam noted while announcing Rs 5 crore for the development of PG Centre at Bhupalpalli.

Assembly speaker S Madhusudana Chary said the creation of Bhupalpalli district has been helping to take the fruits of welfare measures to those who were deprived of development. Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandulal asked medical department to take steps to prevent spread of seasonal diseases.

ZP Chairpersons of Warangal and Khammam G Padma and G Kavitha, MP A Seetaram Naik, MLA P Madhu, District Collector A Murali, Joint Collector D Amoy Kumar, DRO P Mohan Lal, Mission Bhagiratha SE Yesurathnam and others were present.
