Khammam: Assistant Commissioner of Police Ganesh told the students to perform well in national and international level Archery competitions and bring laurels to the district and the state.

Taking part as a chief guest in the valedictory of summer coaching camp of Archery, in Khammam on Friday, Ganesh said students interested in Archery sport must learn it with dedication and bring accolades to the country by performing well.

“In olden days, people living closer to the forest areas used to learn Archery for self-defense. But in course of time, it has become a sport. Archery should be learnt and practiced with complete dedication,” he said.

City Municipal Commissioner B Srinivas Rao added that in united Khammam district, many students proved their mettle in the Archery sport. Necessary cooperation and support would be given for the development of the sport in the district on the behalf of Municipal Corporation, he assured.

District Archery Association President and the Circle Inspector Sadula Sarangapani said several steps have been taken for the development of the sport in the district since 25 years.

However due to lack of space, students who were getting training were facing certain problems. “If there is a support from the government and encouragement from the people, the Archery sport will be developed like any other sport in the district,” he opined.

Later, the ACP and the Municipal Commissioner handed over certificates to the students who participated in the summer Coaching camp.
