Khammam: The All India Student Federation (AISF) demanded the government not to close the government schools citing low strength.

The representatives of AISF, led by Federation’s district secretary Jagarlamudi Ranjith Kumar, handed over a representation to the District Education Officer (DEO) Vijay Lakshmi Bhai in Khammam on Wednesday, demanding the strict implementation of Right to Education Act and initiate action against those found violating rules.

Speaking on the occasion, Ranjith Kumar alleged that instead of solving the problems of government schools, the government was trying to close them by giving silly reasons such as of lack of students.

He further criticised that many private and corporate schools, by violating the GO No 1 and 42, were collecting exorbitant fee in the name of admission fee, material fee, uniform and books fee from the innocent parents, and were not even providing minimum facilities for the students.

Demanding the officials of Education department to take immediate action against private and corporate schools for violating norms and for collecting high fee, he sought the government to address the issues of government schools instead of closing them. He warned of taking up severe agitation if government goes ahead with its plan of closing the government schools.

District president of AISF Etikala Rama Krishna, vice-president Srikanth Reddy and others were part of the Federation’s delegation that called on the DEO.
