The Collector chaired a review meeting with the officials of Health, Panchayat Raj, District Rural Development Agency, Rural Water Supply and Women and Child welfare departments here at Technical Training and Development Centre in Khammam on Wednesday.

Addressing the officials, Lokesh Kumar ordered them to take necessary steps for preventing water stagnation in open areas, especially in villages, along with maintaining the surroundings neat and clean.

“By taking all measures in initial stages, the spread of many seasonal diseases can be prevented and it is the responsibility of Village Secretaries and EOPR’s to organise awareness programmes on maintenance of surroundings clean and tidy in villages,” said the Collector.

Apart from forming committees with Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, ANM’s, Supervisors along with government teachers and Sakshar Bharat Coordinators and also village Sarpanches, wide publicity must be given on maintenance of surroundings clean and tidy along with creating awareness on the spread of seasonal diseases and the methods to prevent them, suggested the Collector.

Awareness on spread of seasonal diseases must be created among the students of Class 8th and 9th with a power point presentation, advised the Collector.

“Take steps for repairing leaked pipelines along with cleaning water tanks that are supplying drinking water once in 15 days apart from fencing pure drinking water wells and bores,” suggested the Collector.

“By observing every Friday as dry day, chlorinate the water tanks that are supplying pure drinking water,” said the Collector, further asking the officials of health department to arrange the necessary medicines at all Primary Health Centres and in sub-centres well in advance to address the exigencies.

District Malaria Officer Ram Babu had given a power point presentation on the steps to be taken to prevent the spread of seasonal diseases on the occasion.

District Panchayat Raj Officer Srinivas Reddy, Project Director of the DRDA Muralidhar Rao, District Medical and Health Officer Kondal Rao, District Educational Officer Vijay Lakshmi Bhai and Village Secretaries were present along with others.
