Karimnagar: District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed ordered the officials to make all arrangements for distribution of sheep units to the beneficiaries under Sheep Rearing Scheme.

He chaired a review meeting with the officials of Animal Husbandry department to discuss the distribution of sheep units at the Collectorate conference hall here on Thursday. The Collector said the government had sanctioned Rs 21 crore for distributing as many as 2,346 sheep units to the beneficiaries in the district.

It is not possible to distribute all sheep units to all beneficiaries at the same time. Hence sheep will be distributed to 17 per cent of the beneficiaries, selected through lottery system in villages, in the first phase.

Sarfaraz directed the officials to receive cheques from the selected beneficiaries for 25 per cent of the total unit cost. “A team on Thursday is sent to Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh for purchasing required sheep for distribution,” he added.

The officials were told to collect details like Aadhar card and bank account from the shepherds, who were selling the sheep.

Take necessary steps for arrangement of fodder along with water to the sheep during their transport with all precautionary measures along with insuring the sheep, ordered the Collector.

Joint Director of Animal Husbandry Department Vikram Kumar and Additional Director Venkateshwarlu were present along with other officials.
