District officials told to uplift Safai Karmacharis

​Khammam: The member of National Commission for Safai Karmacharis, Dilip K Hatheid, on Friday directed the officials to take all necessary steps for the perfect implementation of various welfare schemes introduced by the Central government for the economic and social development of the Safai Karmacharis.

Presiding over a review meeting with officials of the concerned departments at Technical Training and Development Centre (TTDC), Hatheid enquired from them about the various welfare scheme introduced in the district for the sake of Safai Karmacharis and asked them hand over the complete the details.

They should also organise health camps once in three months for the Safai Karmacharis and provide educational opportunities for their children, he added.

Through the ‘National Financial Development Corporation for Safai Karmacharis’ the Central government had released Rs.19.70 crore to the State government for the welfare of the Safari Karmacharis .Take necessary steps for providing financial aid to their families, he added.

He directed the concerned officials to send proposals to the State government to appoint the Safai Karmacharis on a regular basis instead taking them on contract or through outsourcing.

In his speech, District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar said that all the necessary steps were taken for the perfect implementation of all welfare schemes introduced by the Central government for the sake of Safai Karmacharis in the district.

Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal, the ZP Chief Executive Officer Marapaka Nagesh, District SC Development Officer K Achyutanand Gupta, BC Development Officer G Hrushikesh Reddy, City Municipal Commissioner B Srinivas, Chief Planning Officer Z Ramdas, the Project Director of DRDA Muralidhar Rao and the District Education Officer S Vijaylakshmi Bahi were present along with others.
