Warangal: TJAC Chairman M Kodandaram has extended his support to the strike by Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) workers seeking jobs to dependents.

The JAC would make efforts for the success of the strike. ‘The demand to jobs to dependents is a genuine one. The government should come up with clarity on the issue instead of dragging it further in the backdrop of court orders that objected a GO issued by the State government reviving dependents jobs policy,’ he said.

Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, he said serving in coal mines has been a tough job and the workers do not have the facility of pension, many suffer from severe ailments and often die. Hence the employees’ families should be supported by offering job to dependents in the case of illness or death of a worker.

The government should issue revised GO by incorporating the changes suggested by the courts, he suggested and said since the government failed to give clarity on the issue during talks the strike was taken up. The JAC appreciates all the trade unions that have launched the strike by standing united.

He further said that the JAC would take a yatra to create awareness among the public to get the aspirations of Telangana statehood movement fulfilled. The yatra would begin at Sangareddy on June 21 it covers erstwhile Medak district and concludes at Siddipet where a public meeting on June 24 would be held.

The yatra was meant to put pressure on the government to chalk out development plans in the light of statehood agitation spirit and to highlight the ground situation now prevailing in the state. It was not advisable to follow development model left behind by Andhra rulers, Kodandaram said.

The JAC made several suggestions towards fulfilling aspirations of people in separate Telangana. since the government failed to pay attention the JAC has decided to go to the people and educate them, he explained.

He said misuse of power and funds has been evident in the State and the TJAC has asked for probe into such acts by those in power but the government failed to act. Referring to Miyapur land scam, he said the government confessed to the role of politicians and government officials in the scam.

Hence the government should ensure CBI enquiry into the scam to expose those involved in the scam, he asserted. The administration in the State has become corrupt and police officials were also committing suicides as they could not bear pressure from political bosses, he alleged.
