Collector A Murali calls upon school management committees

Bhupalpalli: The District Collector, A Murali, has appealed to the school management committees to extend their cooperation towards development of government schools in Jayashankar Bhupalpalli district. He held a meeting with the government schools management committee members here on Tuesday.

The Collector wanted the committees to come up with measures to improve infrastructure as well as quality of education in government schools on par with private institutions. He suggested the parents and the committee members to actively involve and make collective efforts in that direction.

The State government has been allocated sufficient funds to the government to impart quality education to the students. It would be the duty of the committee members and parents to make certain that the funds are used in proper manner to ensure toilets, additional rooms, kitchen sheds, compound walls, furniture, laboratories and sports equipment.

Similarly, they should also ensure attendance of students as well as the teachers. Since the government introduced English medium instruction in State-run schools, efforts must be made to educate the locals to enroll their wards in the schools, Murali suggested.

During admissions, the parents should pay the fee decided by the management committees and it gives them a right to question, which in turn helps to run the schools in an effective manner, he pointed out.

On the occasion, the Collector made a power point presentation explaining the gathering how Rs 10 lakh allocated by government was spent in developing schools at Chinaboinapalli, Kamalapur, Jawahar Nagar, Venkatapur, Chelpur and other areas in the district.

He also explained them the facilities being provided in schools in different nations and at various places in the country, asking the management committees to emulate them. Meanwhile, on Monday, the Collector Murali riding on a motorbike has made a surprise visit to several villages in Palimela mandal in the district, inspected pending works and interacted with villagers.

After inspecting tribal welfare residential school at Mukunur, he told the officials concerned to take up immediate measures to improve the facilities at the school. He promised a tribal student M Jyothi, who quit her studies due to financial difficulties, to get admission into Bhupalpalli residential degree college.
