​Khammam: Yoga, which is a part of the Indian tradition since ancient times has gained worldwide recognition now, said MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar here on Wednesday.

The 3rd International Yoga Day was celebrated on a grand scale under District Ayush jointly with Panchakosha Yoga Vidyalayam here at Telangana NGO Union Function Hall in the town.

Ajay Kumar, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that by practicing yoga daily one could get rid of many diseases and remain healthy, mentally and physically.

Especially women, who practice yoga daily, can overcome problems like diabetes, blood pressure and obesity. “Practicing yoga daily will give mental peace along with keeping the body fit and healthy. Also, by doing meditation regularly one can get control over his body”, the MLA added.

City Mayor Dr Papa Lal, District Ayush Officer B Lakshminarayana, Convenor P Kanaka Lakshmi, Deputy Mayor Battula Murali, Municipal Commissioner Srinivas, Yoga Teacher Sandhya, Ram Babu and others were present.
