DAV Public School, Safilguda turned into a destination of physical and spiritual communion as World Yoga day was celebrated with a plethora of spiritual and aesthetic activities. 4000 students along with 300 staff led by the principal Parthipan pledged solemnly to make Yoga a part of their daily life.

The occasion attained greater grace with the benign presence of C H Malta Reddy, Hon‘ble MP, Malkajgiri constituency, M Hanumanth Rao, MLC, T Kanaka Reddy, MLA, TRS leaders and Corporators, Dr PG Sastry, Manager, DAVPS and Yoga guru Sri Shankar Murthy amidst the chanting of hymns.
Initiating the programme with a hearty welcome to the guests, the Principal Parthipan spoke about the health and spiritual benefits of practising yoga. Hon’ble Chief Guest, Malta Reddy imbued the students with the magic of yoga by presenting himself as the standing example of energy and good health even at the age of 64 which he said he owes to regular yoga practice.
Emphasizing on honing unswerving focus that comes naturally with the practice of yoga, he quoted celebrity sports persons like Sindhu who kept away from TV and other diversions to concentrate on career. He exhorted the students to practice yoga for memory power, health and flexibility.
Kanaka Reddy, MLA, promised to help arrange Yoga camp in near future. While addressing the audience Dr Sastry, the young octogenarian attributed his good health and ebullient energy to the regular practice of yoga that he had learnt from Maharshi Mahesh Yogi.
The campus turned into a sight of piety as holy fire lit up in the 31 Havan kunds where Havan was being conducted simultaneously by students and teachers along with yoga session.
Principal Parthipan expressed his resolve to include Yoga in the curriculum as a regular subject for the students from class First to Seventh to lay the foundation in order that they benefit physically, spiritually, and ethically.
The secret behind successful bureaucrats, businessmen and sportsmen is Yoga that helps to keep physical and mental balance along with spiritual power. He also promised to organise Yoga camps for women and senior citizens to perpetuate it in the society that is the talisman of good health.
