Sircilla: A strong and healthy society could be built if people include Yoga in their daily activity, observed District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar.

International Yoga Day was observed at Sai Krishna function hall under District Ayush department with the Collector as the chief guest. Large number of people including students of various educational institutions had participated in the Yoga Day celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, Collector D Krishna Bhaskar said that people in olden days had lived healthy life by adopting healthy life practices and by following traditional medical practices along with practicing yoga.

Today people have been facing more stress and strain due to heavy competition and globalisation along with several health issues. Many people are becoming victims of various diseases like diabetes, arthritis and others at a young age due to changes in their life styles and food habits.

Under these circumstances, Yoga will help the people to overcome the stress and strain along with other health issues, pointed out the Collector.

By thorough scientific study on Yoga, many people living in different countries across the world adopted it and made it as part of their daily activity. By recognising the significance of Yoga, the United Nations declared June 21 as the International Yoga Day, informed the Collector.
