Mahbubnagar: As part of the government’s initiative to spread Information Technology (IT) from major cities to Tier-2 towns in various districts across the State, IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao and Information Technology department Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan have in principle, agreed to set up an IT park in Jadcherla mandal in Mahbubnagar district.

Jadcherla, which is already having a Pharma Special Economic Zone (SEZ), will now become an IT hub providing thousands of jobs to youth both in the pharmaceutical and Information Technology sectors.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Industries department General Manager Suresh Kumar said that the government asked it to submit a detailed proposal in this regard and has also sought information regarding availability of suitable land for the setting up of an IT park.

“We have submitted a detailed report to the government about the availability of 5,000 square feet of land near the Roads & Buildings department guest house near NH 44 in Jadcherla.

In addition to this, we have also submitted details about a building under the control of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). If the government opts for any of these places as suitable to establish IT park, Mahbubnagar can definitely accomplish the dream of having an IT park,” informed the General Manager.

As the State government had already launched IT parks in Khammam, it is also seriously looking to establish similar IT parks in the districts of Nizamabad, Mahbubnagar and Mancherial districts. As part of this, the IT department has also decided to set up an IT park in Jadcherla mandal of Mahbubnagar.

According to sources, the higher officials in the government are already in talks with some of the IT companies and they have already expressed their willingness to set up IT parks provided a suitable land is earmarked for them.

Jadcherla being on the NH 44 and just 80 km away from Hyderabad, the IT companies can readily set up their offices readily. “If IT companies are established in the district, initially about 150-200 people can get employment in the IT sector, which is seen as a great opportunity for the rural students,” said Suresh Kumar.
