Bhupalpally: The district administration has planned to plant about 1.28 crore saplings in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district as part of the third phase Telanganaku Haritha Haram programme.

The District Collector, A Murali, informed that saplings required for the purpose have been raised at nurseries across the district. He directed the officials of forest, rural developments, ITDA and MNREGS to make collective efforts for the success of the programme.

Murali chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the Haritha Haram at the district collectorate here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, he said since the rainfall was abundant in the district digging of pits should be taken up from June 23 and completed by July 10 in all mandals.

The planting of saplings would begin in first week of July and a detailed action plan has to be adopted to complete plantation by August 31. Stress should be laid on avenue plantation and planting saplings by the side of roads, on the boundaries of tanks and agriculture fields, the Collector suggested.

Superintendent of Police R Bhaskaran, ITDA project officer Chakradhar Rao, district forest officer Surya Kiran and others were present.
