Mahbubnagar: The State government has finally allocated an extent of 6.23 acres of land for the construction of a mini-stadium in Mahbubnagar town on Friday.

In this connection, in the presence of mandal revenue officials, Mahbubnagar MLA Srinivas Goud handed over the land papers land to Satya Vani, District Youth and Sports Department Officer (DYSO).

Even though the State government gave its approval for the construction of a mini-stadium and released an amount of Rs 2.65 crore, the officials failed in identifying land for the purpose during the past two years.

However, with the intervention of MLA Srinivas Goud, the revenue authorities expedited the process of handing over of the land to the district sports authorities and finally concluded it on Friday by handing over the land to the DYSO.

“Today it is a great day for sports lovers in the district. The government had allocated an extent of 6.23 acres worth of Rs 18 crore. Very soon, we will start the construction works of the mini-stadium and ensure that it will be completed in the targeted time period,” said DYSO Satya Vani.

As part of the programme, the district sports department is planning to construct various sections relating to cycling, athletics, archery, yoga and volleyball in the mini-stadium. At the same time, a mini-indoor stadium will also be constructed in the same premises.
