​Karimnagar: Finance Minister Eatala Rajender ordered the officials to start construction works of double bedroom houses, sanctioned by the State government, by July first week.

He along with District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed chaired a review meeting with the officials of concerned departments along with contractors and masons to discuss the construction works of 2BHK at Swetha Hotel here on Thursday.

Speaking at the meeting, the Minister said that contractors were not coming forward to construct 2BHK in some areas in the district and assured them that there will be no loss to them if they take up the construction works.

About 60,000 double bedroom houses were sanctioned to the district and the construction works will commence from July first week. Rs 5.04 lakh will be invested for constructing double bedroom house in rural areas and Rs 5.30 lakh in cities and towns.

Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed told the contractors and officials to speed up the works once they start the works in the first week of July without any delay. The materials required for the construction like sand will be supplied freely along with giving subsidy on steel and iron after talking with the traders. The contractors must pay only transport charges, assured the Collector.

Necessary steps were taken for construction of as many as 20 to 30 houses at one place along with clearing the bills as early as possible without delay, he added. The Collector urged contractors and masons to come forward for construction of double bedroom houses in the district.

Irrigation Department Chairman Eda Shankar Reddy, MLC Naradasu Lakshman Rao, MLA Gangula Kamalakar, R&B department Executive Engineer Pingili Satish, Superintending Engineer K V Raghavacharyulu and contractors were present along with others.
