On Friday, he attended as a chief guest at the two-day workshop on curriculum development on rural community engagement of students organised by MGU in collaboration with national council of rural institutes, at the conference hall in Arts block of MGU.

Stating that many universities across the country have been doing research work on rural development, he appreciated MGU for coming forward for case studying the rural development.

Exemplifying South Korea’s success in mobile phones sector, he felt education must be practical and skills development oriented.

He advised the officials to do research on problems in rural areas in the district and suggested amicable solutions to the government.

University Vice-Chancellor Altaf Hussain said that from this academic year university is going to start projects on rural development to UG and PG students and every student must visit villages to know the problems existing there.

He told them to suggest solutions to the problems in their project report. He also informed that the University entered into MOU with many organisations to develop skills in the students.

National Council of Rural Development Chairman Dr Prasanna Kumar in his key note speech said universities have to strive hard in finding solutions for strengthening and developing rural areas and economy.

He informed that students of IIM of Gwalior under the guidance of their professor made 160 useful project reports for the welfare of villages. NCRD will provide a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 for the projects that were organised at rural areas.

Jala Sadhana Samithi Convenor Dushcharla Satyanaryana shared his experiences and achievement of getting Krishna water to address the drinking water problem of erstwhile Nalgonda district through the year-long agitations by involving fluoride hit villagers.

University officials Umesh kumar, Ramesh, Vasumathi, Anji Reddy and faculties of various departments of university participated in the programme.
