Nalgonda: The State government’s flagship programme Mission Bhagiratha to provide waters to every household in villages would be operational by the end of 2017 and put an end to the decades-long ‘fluoride ghost’, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy has said.

On Monday, the Minister inspected Mission Bhagiratha scheme works at Kodandapuram village of Pedda Adisharlapalli mandal in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the scheme would be launched in December and would cater to the water needs of rural people.

“There is no compromise on the works of the scheme and people will get pure and safe drinking water on the completion of the project across the State. The quality control officials are checking the waters time and again,” he said.

Stating that the TRS government was determined to root out the fluoride problem from the district, the Minister said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was keeping his promise in this regard and the people of the villages, who used to trek long distances to fetch water, would not face such problems any more.

The Minister further appreciated the officials for taking up the works of intake wells, power and pipelines and also internet cables to every household simultaneously.

The works of internal overhead tanks in the villages was also going on in a speedy manner, he said. Reddy said trials for releasing water were conducted successfully in many segments.

The completion of the Mission Bhagiratha speaks volumes of the State government’s commitment and efficiency, he said.

MP Gutha Sukender Reddy, MLAs Ravindra Kumar and Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy, Collector Gaurav Upppal, ZP Chairman Balu Naik and others accompanied the Minister.
