Two children drink toilet cleaner, fall critically ill
A school maid’s negligence has left two children struggling for their lives in hospital. According to sources, Sagar (6) of Class II and Mani (4) of Lower Kindergarten of Sacred Heart School in Mohtkur of Yadadri district on Thursday drank toilet cleaning liquid assuming it to be drinking water.
Presuming it to be water, the kids drank the liquid that was kept in an open area on the school premises
Mothkur: A school maid’s negligence has left two children struggling for their lives in hospital. According to sources, Sagar (6) of Class II and Mani (4) of Lower Kindergarten of Sacred Heart School in Mohtkur of Yadadri district on Thursday drank toilet cleaning liquid assuming it to be drinking water.
Sources said the school servant after cleaning bathrooms kept the bottle containing the toilet liquid in open place. The two children while playing reached to the bottle and mistakenly consumed it thinking it as drinking water.
Alerted school teachers shifted the victims to local hospital for treatment. However after first aid, the children were shifted to Bhongir Area Hospital. As the condition of the children deteriorated, they were shifted to Kamineni Hospital in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the parents and kin of victims along with child rights organisations demanded stringent action against the school management for their negligence.
