She chaired a review meeting with Segment officers, Nodal officers, Green Brigadiers, volunteers, representatives of NGOs and with the officials of various departments to discuss about planting of one lakh saplings in one day in the district during the third phase of Haritha Haram, at the Collectorate conference hall here on Thursday.

Speaking at the meeting, the Additional Secretary of the CMO said that all sections of people must participate actively in the third phase of the government’s prestigious programme by planting one lakh saplings in a single day under the City Municipal Corporation limits to make the city as green Karimnagar.

Plants play a vital role in the nature for the sustenance of mankind possible. It is the responsibility of everyone to educate the people on the need of plants by conducting awareness programmes.

The Green Brigadiers must visit each and every colony and encourage people towards planting various kinds of flower and fruit yielding plants along with asking them to give proper protection after planting the saplings, she suggested.

The role of Green Brigadiers is most important in making the Karimnagar as green Karimnagar. Awards will be given through the hands of KCR to the top five Green Brigadiers, who encourage people for planting more saplings, she assured.

She advised the officials to establish distribution centres at railway stations, rythu bazar, vegetable markets and at places, where large group of people will be found, at main centres of the city, with various kinds of flower and fruit yielding plants for easy distribution of saplings. She told them to give wide publicity that the saplings are distributed free of cost.

“Take all necessary steps for planting saplings along with preparing the soil suitable for the saplings to grow easily by digging pits on either side of the roads, railway lines, open places and in government lands by removing unwanted plants and weeds that are grown in such places,” suggested Priyanka Varghese.

It is the responsibility of the officials of various department to make the programme successful to grab the attention of the entire State by making the wonderful programme of planting of one lakh saplings in single day under third phase Haritha Haram in Karimnagar, she pointed.

Joint Collector Badri Srinivas, City Municipal Commissioner Shashank, District Forest Officer Srinivas, Haritha Haram Nodal Officer Anjaneyulu, District and Rural Development Officer Venkateshwar Rao, Assistant Commissioner of Police J Rama Rao, MEMPA Project Director Pavan Kumar and District Panchayat Raj Officer Narayana were present along with others.
