Mahabubabad: District Collector Dr Preethi Meena ordered the officials concerned to speed up the modernisation works at District Government Hospital and complete them at the earliest.

She made a surprise visit to the District Government Hospital here on Friday and inspected the developmental works going on in the hospital along with quality of works of labor room and ICU.

Expressing angry at the contractors for carrying out the works at snails’ pace, the Collector ordered them to complete the works within a week and warned them of cancelling the contract if the works are not completed in a week.

The Collector ordered the Executive Engineer of TSMS IDC department to prepare proposals estimating the cost for construction of ICU building with galvanized sheets as the capacity of the building is sufficient for 50 beds.

After submitting the requirement details of furniture such as fans and chairs for arranging them in the open places present in the hospital and in varandah for the attendants who visit the hospital, necessary steps will be taken for sanctioning them, assured the Collector.

Utilise the open place present at the backyard of the hospital for planting saplings under Haritha Haram programme along with establishing a garden with tables and fountains along with installing the statue of Telangana Talli to create a pleasant atmosphere to the attendants, she suggested.

The Collector, Preethi Meena, ordered the officials to demolish the hospital’s old building and use the place for parking vehicles as there is no place at present in the hospital for parking the vehicles.

The Hospital Superintendent Beesagar, Regional Medical Officer Dr Jagadiswar, TSMS IDC Executive Engineer Lakshmi Narayana and Divisional Engineer Shyam were present along with others.
