He flagged off the publicity vehicle here on Friday, aimed at giving wide publicity in villages on Haritha Haram programme with a team of artistes of Telangana Cultural department.
Speaking on the occasion, the JC, Dr A Nagendra, said that the forest cover in the district is only 20 per cent against the required 33 per cent.
He gave a call to all people of all sections to participate in the third phase of the programme to increase the forest area in the district, which would commence in the second of week of July.
As per the target of planting 1.32 crore saplings in the district, necessary steps were already taken and saplings were grown in nurseries along with identifying places for planting them with perfect planning, the J-C informed. He also requested the public to protect the saplings and trees by watering them regularly.
District and Rural Development Agency Project Director Aruna Sri, District Forest Officer Ramesh, Haritha Haram Coordinator Santhosh, Forest Range Officer M Sadanandham and the team of artistes from Telangana Cultural Department were present along with others.
