​New Delhi: A task force constituted to study the feasibility of Bayyaram Steel Plant in Khammam district will be submitting its report in about a fortnight and the Centre would hold a review meeting soon after at Hyderabad, Union Minister, Chowdary Birendra Singh told Telangana Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao, here on Monday.

Rama Rao told media that he had appealed to the Centre to club iron ore reserves of Bailadilla area of Chhattisgarh, too, to boost Bayyaram prospects, if needed. The proposed plant would help improve livelihoods in Khammam district. He said Birendra Singh was very considerate and wanted to do good to the State in whatever capacity he could.

Bayyaram Steel Plant was a promise incorporated in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 and the Chief Minister was very particular about the same coming up at the earliest in the State. The previous government had reservations regarding the same.

Later, in his meeting with Union Minister B Dattatreya, Rama Rao sought the former's cooperation in securing 45 acres of Railway land for double bedroom houses for the poor. Dattatreya sought a combined review of the scheme while appreciating the State government for speeding up the programme.

He also explained to Dattatreya the efforts of the State government to revive sick industrial unit under Industrial Health Clinic programme. The Minister also sought support of the Centre in mitigating the problems of the beedi workers of Sircilla and Nizamabad and more ESI hospitals for the State. More houses must be sanctioned for the beedi workers, he urged.

Earlier, in his meeting with the HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar, Rama Rao reminded him of the promise to establish IIM in the State. New districts needed 11 NavodayaVidyalayas and 15 KendriyaVidyalayas, he told the Union Minister.

Similarly, a Regional Institute of Education was needed at Elkaturti in Warangal Distirct, he urged. Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari and MP B Vinod Kumar accompanied him.
