Suryapet: District Collector Surendra Mohan stated that Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bheema Yogana (PMFBY) would protect the farmers financially and has been implementing with the cooperation of state and central governments.

On Monday, the Collector flagged off the PMFBY awareness vehicle at the Collectorate. Speaking on the occasion, he said farmers who pay premium in notified time in notified areas could avail the benefits of the programme.

To get the benefit of the Yojana programme in Kharif, food grain farmers must pay 2 per cent premium and commercial crop farmers must pay 5 per cent premium and the rest of the premium would be paid by the state and central governments equally.

Telangana government has decided to extend the Yojana to cotton, chilli, oil farm and sweet lime farmers in the district under agriculture insurance, he added.

He informed that last date for payment of premium by paddy famers was August 31, whereas for commercial crops it was July 31. Agriculture officials Jothirmai, Aruna and others participated in the programme.
