​Karimnagar: It is the responsibility of Green Brigadiers to protect the one lakh saplings that would be planted under third phase of Telangana ku Haritha Haram project, said Smita Sabharwal, the Additional Secretary of Chief Minister Office.

On Thursday, she chaired a review meeting with Officers on Special Duty of Hyderabad Forest Department, District Collector, City Segment Officials and Green Brigadiers on the arrangements of Haritha Haram in Karimnagar, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on July 12.

The CMO Additional Secretary told the officials to take all necessary steps for planting one lakh saplings under third phase, along with making elaborate arrangements to give a festival look.

They were also told to make necessary arrangements for protecting the planted saplings by deploying 10 to 20 Green Brigadiers in every division. She told that more than half of these brigadiers must be women. “Hand over the responsibility to the owner of the house to adopt the sapling that is planted in front of their house,” she ordered.

Smita ordered the R&B department officials to decorate the city with paintings and to beautify the traffic islands and to replace the old dividers with new ones from Kaman to Geetha Bhavan. Awards will be given to the best corporator, best division, best special officer, green brigadiers, who take initiation for planting more number of saplings under their supervision, she informed.

She ordered the officials of Municipal department to take care of planted saplings by installing tree guards along with watering the saplings by water tankers. The officials told to appoint one in-charge officer to 500 saplings and hand over the responsibility of protecting the planted saplings to them.

As per the guidelines of the Chief Minister, the District Collector, Member of Parliament, MLAs, MLCs, City Mayor, Corporators and the City Municipal Commissioner along with other officials must supervise the growth of the planted saplings on every morning, she suggested.

Special Secretary of CMO Bhopal Reddy, District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy, Joint Collector B Srinivas, Additional Principal Conservator of Forest Dr P B Mallasi, Sunil Kumar Gupta, Y Babu Rao, Pridwiraj, Forest Conservator Akbar, Haritha Haram Special Officer and District Forest Officer Srinivas were present along with others.
