Hanamkonda: The State government paid little attention to the agriculture and human resource development sectors that play a critical role in the economic growth of any region, Telugu Desam national secretary Revuri Prakash Reddy has said, addressing a press conference here on Thursday.

Referring to the proposals - free fertiliser scheme and strengthening of Rythu Samakhyas – of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, he said that TRS government is trying to hoodwink the farmers by creating a feel-good atmosphere for agriculture sector.

“If the government really has concern towards farmers, why not it implements the free fertiliser scheme from this year itself,” Reddy said, accusing the administration of failing to curb the spurious seed trade that is rampant in the State like last year.

This apart, the government failed to create a proper mechanism to guide the farmers, he said stressing the importance of constituting market intervention fund to stabilise the commodity prices.

Condemning the government’s decision to close down 4,637 schools across the State in the name of rationalisation, he found fault with the administration for diluting the very spirit of Right to Education Act-2009.

Referring to the GO RT No 99 to provide free transport to schoolchildren, he said that it would not improve enrolment of students. This is nothing but ruining the education system at primary level that invariably impacts human resources development, Reddy said.

He said that TNSF, TDP’s students wing, will launch State-wide dharnas from July 10, protesting the government’s move.

TDP State general secretary and Warangal Urban district president Eega Mallesham said: “The development of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) remained more a matter of words than deeds. The government which allocated Rs 300 crore for improvement of amenities and infrastructure in GWMC has not fulfilled its promise.”

He also criticised the ruling party for its failure to develop Warangal even though the city was selected under Smart City, Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) schemes.

Warangal Rural district president Gannoju Srinivasa Chary, Jangoan district president Kondam Madhusudan Reddy, Warangal general secretary Pullur Ashok, Ghanpur coordinator Thallapally Jayapal, TNSF State vice-president Jatoth Santhosh Naik, district leaders Bhaskula Eeshwar and others were present.
