Kothagudem: The Centre and the State governments have been implementing various schemes for the welfare of tribals, said A Sitaram Naik, Member of Parliament from Mahbubabad, here on Friday.

He participated in the notebook distribution programme organised by ITC Bhadrachalam at the Government Degree College in Bhadrachalam.

Recalling that many people who studied in the college reached high positions, the MP advised the students to emulate them. He complimented the ITC Bhadrachalam for providing notebooks to the students of schools and colleges for the last several years.

The MP said when requested the management to provide notebooks to the students, they immediately responded and provided 22,500 notebooks worth Rs 8 lakh, which was highly appreciable.

Stating that the government was providing KG to PG education free for all, the MP appealed to the students to keep in mind the sacrifices of their parents.

When Principal Dr Gopi appealed to the MP to lay roads on the premises of the junior college, the MP instructed the Sarpanch of the village, Sweta to carry out that work.

College Principal Krishnaveni, ITC GM Prabodh Kumar, PB Niranjan, committee members B Shankar Reddy, Balayogi, TRS leader Mane Ramakrishna, former Principal Siddhulu and others were present.

Meanwhile, the MP was accorded a traditional welcome by the temple officials of the Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy. He performed special pujas at the temple.

Addressing the media, the MP said he would strive to achieve a railway line between Pandurangapuram and Sarapaka. He also assured people that he would see what he could do to bring back five village panchayats to Telangana.

The MP informed that the TRS government had sanctioned 22 Gurukul Degree Colleges all over the state.
