​Karimnagar: The Additional Secretary of Chief Minister Office (CMO) Smita Sabharwal said that it is the responsibility of the house owners to take care of saplings planted in front of their houses.

She along with Priyanka Varghese, the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of Chief Minister Office chaired a review meeting here at Collectorate conference hall on Friday, with the officials of various departments to discuss the arrangements of third phase of Haritha Haram programme.

The Additional Secretary of CMO ordered the officials to prepare perfect planning beforehand on how to protect the planted saplings along with appointing a supervising officer for every 500 saplings. She clarified that the house owners should be given the responsibility of protecting the saplings planted in front of their houses.

She also suggested the green brigadiers to discharge their duties like that of a soldier in protecting the planted saplings. And it is their responsibility to keep the planted saplings alive for two years by taking necessary steps.

If there is no rainfall for more than two or three days after the saplings were planted then they have to water the saplings through tractors coordinating with the officials of municipal department, she advised.

The green brigadiers must wear T-shirts, caps and badges and must get professional training in planting the saplings, she suggested.

If any the planted saplings dies due to any reason, then they have to be replaced with new ones within 48 hours. There must festival look in the city on July 12, the day on which third phase of ‘Telanganaku Haritha Haram’ would be launched, she ordered.

Irrespective of political affiliations, all people and representatives of various people organisations, officials of various departments along with representatives of various student unions, corporators and voluntary organisations must participate actively in the programme to make the Karimnagar city as a role model by turning it into a Green Karimnagar, she urged.

District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, City Municipal Commissioner Shashank, Joint Collector B Srinivas, Additional Principal Conservator of Forest Department Dr C B Mallasi, Y Babu Rao, Pruthviraj, Forest Conservator Akbar, Haritha Haram Special Officer Anjaneyulu, District Forest Officer Srinivas, the Rural Development Officer Raja Goud, Segment Officers, Green Brigadiers and other officials were present.
