Hanamkonda: BJP national executive member N Indrasena Reddy has demanded the State government announce the list of beneficiaries under Krishi Vikas Yojana in Telangana State.

He alleged that the TRS workers have corned the fruits of the scheme, wherein farm mechanisation equipment and tractors were supplied to small and marginal farmers at subsidized prices.

Speaking to presspersons at the BJP Warangal Urban unit office in Hanamkonda on Monday, he informed that for the implementation of Krishi Vikas Yojana, the Centre has released Rs 100 crore to the State.

Instead of supplying farm equipment that helps the farmers in many ways, the State government was only supplying tractors. The TRS leaders even though they were not farmers the government has distributed tractors to them, Indrasena Reddy complained.

He further noted that the sheep distribution scheme in the State was going to be another scam. Though the guidelines clearly mention that the beneficiaries have to be selected through draw of lots at Gram Sabhas, no such steps were taken. This has caused injustice to genuine beneficiaries.

The State government has failed to address the issue of death of sheep during transit leading to wastage of public money. Though it was mandatory to obtain transit insurance prior to transportation of the cattle the government has neglected it, the BJP leader said.

The traders in Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh from where the government was procuring sheep and ram have formed into a syndicate and increased the prices of the cattle. But the State government was ignorant of the fact and paying huge amounts to purchase sheep and ram, Indrasena Reddy explained.

The government must look into these immediately in order to prevent loss of public money, he suggested. According to the BJP leader, after the introduction of GST regime, the tax on fertilisers and other agriculture items has come down to 5 per cent from 12 per cent in the past. But the traders were selling the goods at old prices and looting the farmers, yet there was no action from the government, he pointed out.

Indrasena Reddy accused the TRS government of failing to implement Fasal Bhima Yojana in the State. The scheme, which meant to help the farming community was being neglected by the government intentionally and there was no campaign to educate the farmers on its benefits.
