Khammam: Communist Party of India alleged that the Centre had introduced the Goods and Services Tax (GST) only to burden poor of the country and help the rich.

Speaking at the district body meeting of the party in Khammam on Monday, CPI state joint secretary Kunamneni Sambashiva Rao alleged that the Centre had designed the GST to favor the corporate companies, industrialists and businessmen in the country.

“Except one or two products, the rates of all the goods and services increased enormously after introducing GST and it is becoming burden on the middleclass families and poor,” he said.

Stating that Modi government was favoring the rich, Kunamneni criticised that by encouraging communalism, the Modi government was trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the country.

He also alleged that the Presidential election was not between Kovind and Meira Kumar, but it was between communalists and democrats. In the past, as BJP official spokesperson, Ram Nath Kovind made comments against Christians and Minorities. “The TRS MP’s are supporting BJP candidate in presidential election keeping in view of their personal benefits,” he alleged.

Stating that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was shedding crocodile tears when it came to farmers issues, Kunamneni alleged that the KCR government was becoming a care of address for manufacturing fake seeds and spurious products.

“There is no single incidence of arrests in any cases that took place in KCR’s reign right from land grabbing cases to Nayeem’s case,” he pointed out. He urged the party leaders to strive hard to strengthen party from grassroots to keep a check to anti-people policies of both the State and Central governments.

Senior leader of the party Puvvada Nageshwar Rao and district secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao were present along with others.
