Nalgonda: A farmer seeking justice over a land dispute attempted suicide during the Grievance Day programme at Nalgonda Collectorate on Monday.

According to eyewitnesses and kin of the victim, Saidulu, a farmer of Domalguda village of Nalgonda mandal contacted officials concerned to address his land issue but in vain.

Vexed over official apathy, Saidulu attempted suicide by consuming the pesticide which he bought along with him. Fellow people and attenders at the Collectorate prevented him from doing so.

Later speaking to media, Saidulu said that they had purchased 2 acres of agriculture land from one Ashok Reddy of Domalapally 16 years ago. Saidulu did not get registered the land in his name and took a paper receipt given by Reddy against the sale of land.

Saidulu stated that, taking the advantage, Ashok Reddy has been denying Saidulu’s right over the land and was harassing him with his political clout. He lamented that even officials and police did not respond to his plea.

Speaking to Collector Gaurav Uppal, Saidulu informed that his family was dependent on the two acres land and urged him to resolve the dispute permanently. Meanwhile, the Collector assured him that he would consider the matter and resolve it without further delay.
