Khammam: The representatives of the All India Students Federation (AISF) staged a dharna here in front of the officer of District Education Officer (DEO) demanding the government solve the problems faced by students in government schools.

Earlier, the representatives held a massive rally with the students of government schools and various educational institutions from Pavilion Grounds to DEO office in Khammam on Wednesday.

Addressing the agitators, AISF district secretary J Ranjith Kumar alleged that instead of strengthening the government education sector, the state government was bringing reforms to encourage the private and corporate educational institutions deceiving the people.

Before going to elections, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao promised of dissolving the corporate education system and strengthen the government education system. But after coming to power, he forgot the promise he made and was taking decisions of closure government schools, he criticised.

How can the students enroll in government school when most of them don’t have permanent teachers besides basic facilities like toilets and drinking water? he asked, questioning the need for establishing Gurukul schools without providing the necessary facilities.

To strengthen government schools, all schools must be upgraded to Gurukul schools, he demanded. AISF representatives E Rama Krishna, Nagula Meera, M Lakshman, M Shravan, Anil, Srikanth, Jhony Pasha, Rakesh, Naresh and Suresh were present along with the students of various educational institutions.
