Hanamkonda: Retired professor K Ramanuja Rao has been appointed as the president of Rotary Club of Hanamkonda under Rotary District-3150.

Similarly, KVN Shirish Kumar has been appointed as the club secretary, while K Surender Rao was appointed as the treasurer. At an installation ceremony at University Arts and Science College, the new office bearers have assumed the charge.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramanuja Rao said programmes to improve quality of education and infrastructure at government schools would be taken up by the club. Similarly, efforts would be made to install water purification plants in the villages in the district.

Former governors of the club Dr V Sharath Babu and V Gopinath Reddy asked the club members to lend their support to the needy in the society. Gopinath Reddy informed that service activities worth one crore rupees would be taken up in the district this year.

It was being planned to install 30 water purification plants and develop 13 government schools as ‘Happy Schools’, he said and lauded the service activities of Rotary Club of Hanamkonda.

On the occasion, a financial assistance of Rs 19,000 was given to an engineering student D Mounika. The club trainer K Indrasena Reddy, members R Ram Reddy, D Srinivas, A Vijay Kumar, Ravindranath, T Vaidyanath, Manohar Reddy, Anitha Reddy and others were present.
