​Mancherial: Women should be sensitised to regulate over population growth, said District Collector R V Karnan, speaking at a programme organised on the occasion of World Population Day at the area hospital here on Tuesday.

The Collector asked the medical staff, anganwadi workers and ASHA workers to sensitise the women on family planning. Explaining the merits of small families, he urged the people to follow the motto of two children per family.

Karnan directed the officials of medical and health department to take necessary measures to conduct family planning campaigns to raise awareness among the people in rural areas. The official of medical department, anganwadi workers, ANMs and ASHA workers were asked to make use of fort-night celebrations to sensitise the people.

Karnan warned stringent action will be taken against the management if they don’t maintain hygiene conditions in the hospital. He presented certificate of appreciation to medical staff, certificates and mementos to Anganwadi workers, ASHA and ANM workers on the occasion.

Area Hospital Superintendent Yaswanth Rao, District Medical and Health Officer Bhishma, Municipal Chairperson Vasundhara, vice-chairman Nalla Shankar, doctors, staff of Women and Children welfare department, ANMs, ASHA workers were present.
