Hanamkonda: The TRS government has been dabbing pink colour to all central government schemes and claiming them as its own, alleged BJP state spokesperson A Rakesh Reddy.

Expressing anguish at the way the State government was trying to claim credit for the central schemes, the BJP leader found fault with the government over its negligence in acknowledging the Centre’s contribution.

Speaking to presspersons in Hanamkonda on Wednesday, Rakesh Reddy noted that the Centre’s ‘Make In India’ is renamed as ‘Make In Telangana’, ‘Skill India’ as ‘Skill Telangana’.

Same is the case with the Centre’s scheme that offers financial assistance to pregnant women to promote institutional deliveries and it is being implemented under the title ‘KCR Kits’.

Referring to distribution of sheep units to Yadava and Kuruma communities, he said the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, during the last budget session has made a grand announcement about the scheme stating that it is Telangana government’s initiative. But he ignored the Centre’s contribution to the scheme.

The BJP floor leader in the State Assembly G Kishan Reddy questioned the CM’s claims but Chandrashekar Rao maintained there is contribution from the Centre. In turn, the party floor leader moved a privilege motion against the CM, charging him of misleading the house.

However, the government has failed to respond to the motion and remained silent, Rakesh Reddy said adding the Centre has in fact released a grant of Rs 1,000 crore, besides Rs 3,000 crore as credit.

The distribution of sheep units is mired with procedural lapses and its implementation is not as effective as the government claims. The government is purchasing sheep at higher prices, Rs 5,000 being paid for each sheep while its original cost is only Rs 3,000. In all Rs 40,000 is spent excessively on each unit.

In order to supply the sheep units to four lakh beneficiaries, it is required to purchase about 84 lakh sheep. But there is no availability of sheep in AP, Maharashtra and Karnataka from where the government is procuring the cattle, Rakesh Reddy pointed out.

He wanted tagging of each sheep in order to prevent misuse of the scheme. BJP Warangal Urban district president Rao Padma and others present.
