Paloncha: State Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal has explained the students that the Right to Vote was a precious one in extending good governance. He was participating in a face-to-face programme with the students of social welfare residential school here on Thursday along with the Bhadradri-Kothagudem District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu.

He called upon everyone who crossed 18 as on January 1, 2017, to register their name as voter. Along with evidence of age, the prospective voters should enroll their name in their respective Assembly constituency. To enroll as a voter, the prospective voters should fill Form-6 and submit it to the Tahsildar, the RDO, the Collector and polling booth-level officials.

They can also apply online. If the voter shifted from one polling booth to the other the voter should submit address change form.

Instead of verifying their name in the voters’ list in the last minute, people should verify whether their name figured in the list of voters. If they do not want to vote anyone, the Supreme Court provided the NOTA option.
On the request for online voting facility for students, Bhanwarlal said that he utilised the postal ballot system to exercise his franchise.

He hoped that the online facility would be introduced some time later in future. On demanding action against the leaders inducing voters, he asked the voters in general and students in particular not to give their vote to such persons.

The District Collector said a special voter enrolment programme was on in the district from July 1 to July 31. The Collectorate staff Dileep and Rajesh made a power-point presentation on significance of Right to Vote. Revenue Divisional Officer Ravindranath, College Principal K Venkateswarlu and others participated.
