Mahbubnagar: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari has promised to set up a new post-graduate college and a Sainik school in Narayanpet in Mahabubnagar district.

While taking part in the inauguration of a government junior college in Utkoor mandal on Thursday, the Deputy CM said, “The government is giving highest priority to education. In the last three years, we have established more than 525 residential schools in the state. Keeping this in mind, we are moving ahead in a phased manner to achieve our long-term goal of providing free KG to PG education in the state.”

Narayanpet is one of the oldest and second biggest municipalities in Mahbubnagar district. Despite having huge population, there are no adequate numbers of educational institutions catering the higher education needs in the division.

Because of this, most of the areas in Narayanpet are literally backward compared to other parts of the district. Moreover, the students who have completed their graduation find it difficult to go Mahbubnagar as it is more than 65 km away.

In fact, there has been a long-pending demand from the people to establish a post-graduate college. However, during the past few years no one has taken cognizance of the need.

Realizing the need to provide higher educational opportunities to Narayanpet, the Education Minister promised to establish a PG center and a Sainik School in this backward division of the district.

Later, the deputy CM took part in the inaugural of new junior college building in Dharoor mandal of Jogulamba-Gadwal district and also promised to set up a residential girls degree college in the district.

During his visit to Makthal, Kadiyam took part in the Haritha Haram programme and planted saplings in the Makthal market yard.
