Kothagudem: Telangana State police are exemplary in maintaining law and order, said Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, after laying foundation stones for the new buildings for Sixth Battalion, at a cost of Rs 1 crore, and district police headquarters, at a cost of Rs 12 crore, and an industrial training institute at a cost of Rs 5.32 lakh here on Friday.

Addressing a meeting organised at Kothagudem Club, the Home Minister said the police have been given modern vehicles for patrolling which was unprecedented in any other state. The officials of other states have been visiting Telangana to emulate our idea of friendly-policing, he said.

The Home Minister said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was determined to develop Kothagudem district on all fronts. Kothagudem was the first district where foundation stone was laid for the construction of the state-of-the-art police headquarters which showed the commitment of the Chief Minister, he added.

The Home Minister announced that the government would pay Rs 3,500 stipend to the students of the Industrial Training Institute under construction at Chunchupalli. The ITI would provide training in five trades for 210 students, he added.

Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao said the TRS government had recruited 26,000 personnel in the police department after assuming power. He called upon people to participate in Haritha Haram in large numbers and make the programme a grand success. Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said education, employment and medical care were being given top priority in Telangana.

Kothagudem MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao said 1,300 acres of land was acquired for undertaking developmental activities in the district. He recalled that 12 acres of land was allotted to the police station at Kinnerasani. He appealed to the Home Minister to set up police station there.

ZP chairperson Gadipalli Kavita, Tati Venkateswarlu, MLAs Payam Venkateswarlu, Koram Kanakaiah, District collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, Police Housing Corporation chairman Koleti Damodar, MD Malla Reddy, IG Nagi Reddy, SP Amber Kishore Jha and others were present.
