Karimnagar: The representatives of Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) were directed to organise educational tours for educating farmers about the modern methods and advanced techniques for getting higher yields with minimum inputs.

District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed held a meeting with the governing body of ATMA at the Collectorate conference hall here on Thursday.

The Collector informed that the district administration had given a nod for the executive report prepared by ATMA with an estimation of Rs 98 lakhs for the year 2017-18.

He ordered the ATMA representatives to organise educational tours along with giving them training to select better type of crop suitable for the soil present in their fields.

Sarfaraz enquired the farmers about their experiences, who had been benefitted with the training and awareness provided by the representatives of ATMA in the past.

The farmers informed the Collector that by using cow dung and cow urine maximum benefits are derived by the farmers of other states going on with specific type of crops suitable for their fields.

About Rs 98 lakhs were allotted for the year 2017-18 to ATMA for 428 categories. To benefit the farmers, ATMA must organise educational tours and awareness programmes along with giving training to them about new methods to be implemented in their fields for getting maximum yields, suggested the Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed.

ATMA Project Director Tejovathi, Agricultural Department Joint Director Sridhar, Animal Husbandry Joint Director Vikram Kumar, Fisheries department Deputy Director Devander, Horticultural department Additional Director Srinivas, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Padmaja Rani, Scientist Dr Venkateshwar Rao, ATMS Technical Assistant N Satyanarayana and agricultural scientists were present along with the representatives of ATMA.
