Warangal Urban: Telangana Vidyarthi Sena (TVS) leaders have demanded the Kakatiya University authorities to reduce the qualifying marks for BCs in the entrance test for PhD admissions.

In this connection, they submitted a memorandum to the University Registrar Prof. K Purushotham in Hanamkonda on Friday. The TVS honorary president Errabojja Ramesh and its state in-charge D Satish, speaking to the media on Friday wanted the qualifying mark to be reduced to 20 from the present 35 marks.

They reminded the authorities that in 2010 Ph D entrance, the qualifying mark for BCs was 20 marks. Later in 2012 when the qualifying mark was increased to 35 and all BC students’ associations have appealed to the Vice-chancellor and the Registrar to reduce the mark to 20.

The then in-charge Vice-chancellor Chiranjeevulu gave an assurance to the students that the qualifying marks would be reduced to 20 in the next Ph D admission notification. Hence, the University authorities should ensure measures to reduce the qualifying marks to 20, they said.

State TVS president Kalluri Pavan warned that a massive agitation would be launched by students if their demand was not fulfilled. The Registrar told the students union leaders that the issue would be taken up for discussion during the meeting of Deans of the University scheduled to be held on Saturday. BC-JAC leader T Purnender, the TVS leaders Ramakanth, Srikanth, E Maheshwara Rao and others were present.
