​Hyderabad: Having facilitated 25 start-ups in their entrepreneurial journey, The Technology Business Incubator (TBI), University of Hyderabad (UoH), in association with The Entrepreneur Zone (TEZ - a Startup Accelerator) inaugurated its 5th batch of the 6-month weekend Programme in Start-up Management on Saturday in the Zakir Hussain Lecture Hall Complex, near the University Guest House at the University of Hyderabad (UoH).

The TBI@UoH is an incubator started at the University of Hyderabad in 2008 fully funded by NSTEDB, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India and has been able to foster an entrepreneurial eco-system among the students and budding entrepreneurs at the University and the other institutions.

The TBI is closely associated with leading institutions in Hyderabad and all over India to disseminate the best practices in business incubation, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Prof G Gopal Reddy, Member, University Grants Commission (UGC) was the Chief Guest for the event. Prof Reddy complimented the TBI @ UoH for its pioneering efforts in an otherwise unexplored field of study and teaching.

Prof Reddy highlighted the need for creating “job creators” than “job seekers” so as to provide the right opportunities to the huge “demographic dividend” of India which has around 65per cent of young people below 30 years. He also explained the major thrust area being pursued by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji and also the speed with which the changes are taking place in India.

Prof Reddy suggested that many more universities should follow the efforts of TBI @ UoH and encourage students to “test” their ideas and also advised that failures are stepping stones to success. Later Prof. Reddy gave away the certificates to the participants.

Prof V Venkata Ramana, Professor at School of Management Studies and Coordinator of TBI, UoH explained the activities of the TBI @ UoH since its formal registration and establishment in the year 2008.

Since then 10 patents and a lot of workshops were organised to build awareness and interest about the entrepreneurial ecosystem both within the University and other academic institutions and about 25 startups have been commercialized.

Dr Nandita Sethi, founder, CMD, The Entrepreneur Zone (TEZ) encapsulated the activities of TEZ in the last 2 years. TEZ has natured 25 years in different segments has reached out to the educational system in tier 2 & 3 cities to nurture entrepreneurships.

Vivek Varma, Co-founder, DISRUPPT and Board Member, Hyderabd Angles, Co-organiser TEDx Hyderabad discussed about what entrepreneur is all about the process of starting up and the challenges of starting up. He inspired the budding entrepreneurs to take up the challenges of entrepreneurship and take the country to a higher growth path.

Srinivas K, founder & COO, T-Hub spoke about the evolving startup system in Telangana & the active role of the T-Hub in nurturing tech startups. He inspired the young entrepreneurs to discuss their challenges and tried giving solutions in the existing eco-system.
