Says he was falsely implicated in the murder of Anisetti Murali, stages protest
Warangal: Tension prevailed in the city on Tuesday as Congress workers and leaders took to streets against the alleged political conspiracy wherein the party leader N Rajender Reddy named in the remand report of TRS corporator A Murali’s murder.
The party workers sporting black badges and shouting slogans against the TRS government staged protest demonstrations at the Ambedkar statue in Hanamkonda and at Mahatma Gandhi statue in Warangal. They alleged that Rajender Reddy and two other Congress workers were falsely implicated in the case.
Hundreds of Congress workers led by City Congress working president Rajanala Srihari participated in the protest in Warangal. Speaking to the media, he demanded the State government to delete the names of Rajender Reddy and others from the remand report.
In Hanamkonda, the protest was led by City Congress president K Srinivas Rao and DCC Bank chairman J Raghava Reddy. They accused the TRS leaders E Dayakar Rao and Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari of conspiring against the Congress party leaders and trying to damage their image.
The protests were disrupted by the police who were deployed in large numbers. The party leaders Srihari, Srinivas Rao, Raghava Reddy and large number of workers were arrested and released later. They asserted that the protests would continue until the names of Congress leaders were withdrawn from the remand report.
They further alleged that the ruling party was misusing the police in targeting the Opposition leaders. The people in the State have been watching the TRS governments’ misdeeds and they would teach a lesson to it in next elections, they added.
Meanwhile, City Mayor N Narender and KUDA chairman M Yadava Reddy said the accused persons who surrendered to the police revealed the names of Congress party leaders. Based on their account, the police have filed the remand report. There was no involvement of TRS leaders in the issue.
They felt that Congress leaders were creating an unnecessary ruckus over the remand report and sought to know why the district Congress president Rajender Reddy was absconding after his name figured in the remand report.
