Villagers clash over podu lands, 9 injured
A clash between members of two groups over the cultivation of podu lands has left nine people critically injured. The incident took place in Modhela Gudem village of Pinapaka in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district on Tuesday.

According to sources, the villages started cultivating podu lands since 2007. Forest officials intervened in 2010 and planted saplings in the same lands. However, the villagers under the leadership of Konda Pottaiah managed to acquire stay order.
Meanwhile, several allegations have cropped up in the recent past that Pottaiah hand in glove with forest officials had pocketed money by selling part of the Podu land. The allegations became the cause for clashes between the Pottaiah group and others. After the duel, the members filed complaints against each other in the local police station. The police registered a case and took up investigation.
